This post is brought to you by Red Letter Words.
If all the walls in my house were blank and white and I won a decorate-a-blank-wall contest where I could only choose one thing to hang on those empty bare walls.
It would be this.
Or these (especially if I had that barn door).
Or this.
Yep.
I think it would be this.
Because this is what I tell my children.
And if I won a decorate-a-blank-wall-contest and I could only pick one thing. I would want it to be something with meaning. Something that came from my heart. Something that filled up those blank empty walls and made me smile.
Just like this 🙂

My best friend is my husband Ed. We have been married 41 years today, yes,our anniversary is today. He lifts my spirit when I’m down, he loves me unconditionally and that’s another saying for “if my weight jumps another ten lbs.” He stands at my side to face what life has to offer, and helps me tremendously to keep our children and our grandchildren knowing, loving, and serving God.

My favourite thing about my best friend is that we always have lots of fun and laughs when we’re together (which is nowhere near often enough). And now that her mom and my dad have been dating for 7 years, I think we can officially call ourselves sisters 🙂
Carol said:
She always listens and rarely gives advice. She is special because she always “puts” the welfare of others before herself.

Well, my first best friend is my sis! But if I have to mention another one and what is best about her….it would be the fact we could go a very long time without catching up, ya know life gets that way sometimes. Once we start chatting it is like we picked up where we left off. I really miss her, and have since made lots new friends here in SC but nothing the same as my friend Michele, who will always be the closest to my heart like a second sister.

my best friend and i call each other “my 12th” which is based on a poem that i had found many years ago. this poem is called, “my twelfth best friend” by teri camp and it speaks about how our relationships should be in order with God 1st, then hubs, then children and friends. you can read it here:
http://the1829farmhouse.blogspot.com/2010/08/little-bit-of-this-little-bit-of-that.html
we have been best buds for almost 13 years and can count on each other to pray and console and encourage when the need arises. our husbands are good friends as well as our two boys who stood up in each other’s weddings this past year. our friendship still continues even though she moved away about 9 years ago. (we still get to see each other frequently since it’s only over an hour drive away.)

(well…hope so cuz I’m gonna anyway! 🙂 My BESTEST buddy Carey has NEVER given up on me…She has ALWAYS been here for me, Loving me & supporting me UNCONDITIONALLY, even when my own family has ditched me….She has been my best friend for 15 years and in all honesty, the majority of that time, my life has been in utter shambles and so have I, but she has stuck it through all of the tragedies. How she has done it is beyond my understanding but I’m sure glad she has and I am SO BLESSED to have her. There are TOO MANY times to count that I literally would not have made it through without her :’)

My best friend would beyond words be my daughter! She has been with me through struggles and pain, good and bad, rich and poor, never giving up on us, that we are a team of one, we are family! Come to think of it, i am a pretty lucky person to have a daughter that is a friend to everyone, gives a hand up when needed and lets you know you are not thinking very nicely at the moment! Blessed, yes i am, whether I win artful words or not, I have already won!!!!!

The thing that turned my Good Friend into my Best Friend is how she unfailingly was at my side in my darkest time. My best friend . . . it’s impossible to describe all the great qualities about her in one simple comment, but I’ll try. She’s the cheese to my macaroni. We’re like peanut butter and jelly. We just go together. We’re both wildly different, yet are like twin souls. She’s always supportive and encouraging. She also tells me when I need to check myself before I wreck myself. And I, the same for her. Just like the time I had to tell her that socks of any kind do not go with capri pants and mule shoes. We still differ on that point to this day. She is a runner. I am not. But, she always waits for me to catch up at the light pole. We call each other Nanny. Why? I almost don’t remember it’s been so long ago. Our inside jokes are endless . . . from Suzanne Sommers on HSN to eating ice pops at 3AM while watching a marathon of Hoarders. Only she gets why I would want a house with a long hallway and I know why she just doesn’t want her braided. To the core, she’s authentic. She. My best friend.
